Renee DePuy has returned to Broadcast
Architecture, the company she’s called home for the better part of
her professional career. She joined BA in 1993 as a producer for
the programming BA originates for JOAV-FM (Tokyo’s legendary
J-WAVE) at the same time the Smooth Jazz Network (then the name
for BA’s consultation arm) was born.
Quickly Renee became involved in domestic as
well as international duties, assisting in the launch of more than
20 American smooth jazz stations, including WJZW Washington and
WVMV Detroit. She became Director of Programming in 1996, and in
addition to consulting nearly 30 Smooth Jazz stations, programmed
The Dave Koz Radio Show and scripted Legends Of Jazz
with Ramsey Lewis. In 2002, Renee became BA’s Operations
Manager, overseeing all programming and production in BA’s East
Coast office (then in Burlington, NJ).
Renee was recruited to become client station
WJZW’s first-ever Music Director in the spring of 2003. In
Washington she was heavily involved in promotions, imaging and
talent management in addition to music scheduling. She rejoined BA
in November 2006 as Program Director of BA’s revolutionary new
Smooth Jazz Network™, which launched fully in January 2007
into 16 markets across the U.S.
In her present role as Program Director,
Renee oversees all aspects of the network’s music flow distributed
to affiliates nationwide. She also scripts all of the weekend
programming, which is hosted by world-class musicians Brian
Culbertson, Kenny G, Norman Brown and Paul Hardcastle.
Renee’s a native New Yorker who holds a
Communication Arts degree from Hofstra University. Presently based
in the Philadelphia area, Renee enjoys reading everything she can
get her hands on, tackling crossword puzzles and Sudoku, and
cheering on her beloved New York Islanders.
Few Smooth Jazz programmers have Renee’s
experience and enthusiasm for the format. “This music has a fan
base with a passion one would think only young people would
possess, not to mention musicians of exceptional skill. Listeners’
devotion to these stations and their artists is all the
inspiration we need to satisfy their needs and expectations.”
